Arlene Corwin writes

Waiting It Out

Get a frame inside which you’ve a tool
To switch instead, from
Meaningless - and hopelessness
To getting up out of that bed.

All things being equal*
Time is only phases;
In that steady-line continuous:
A paradox.

You need a frame of thought
To help with ‘oughts’ and ‘nots’,
With getting rid of fear & variations,
For there are so many:
Phobias, aversions, panic, hesitation,
Even veneration and respect
(as crazy as it sounds):
Things leading to depression;
Butterflies and nervousness;
Anxiety and expectation.
As I said, there are so many
Variations on the theme.

A bodywork of structure;
Some philosophy on which to lean;
A cornerstone.
Waiting out; not stardust but a way
To roust the worst of it.
A start to trust#

*the origin is Latin: Ceteris paribus

#There is a word in Swedish; tröst which means comfort.  I like the connection.
