Zayd Fredericks writes

A  letter to my 13 year old self after my parents passed away in a car accident.

You're angry, I know this
The world couldn't care less
You're lonely, I feel this
And you wish you were the best
No teachers or guidance
And you always walk alone
You're crying at night when nobody else is home
Come over here and let me hold your hand and hug you, my boy
I promise you that things won't always be this bad
There are so many things I want to share with you
You're the boy I used to be
The little, heartbroken 13 year old me
You're smiling, but you're hiding
I know that trick so well
You forget that I've been you
And now I'm just the shell
I promise I'll love you
Everything will work out fine
Don't try to grow up yet
Just give some time
The pain you feel is real
You're not asleep, but it's a nightmare
But you can wake up anytime
Don't lose that passion or the fighter that's inside of you
You're the boy I used to be
The pissed off, complicated 13 year old me
Until we meet again, my boy, I wish you well

  1. Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso was born in 1881, the son of a painter who specialized in naturalistic depictions of birds and other game. According to his mother, his first words were "piz, piz," a shortening of" lápiz", the Spanish word for pencil. When he was severn his father began giving him formal training in figure drawing and oil painting. By the time he was 12 the juvenile quality of his earliest work began to disappear, and by the time he was 14 he was doing sophisticated work. On one occasion, when Picasso was 13, his father found him painting over an unfinished sketch of a pigeon by his father and vowed to give up painting since he had been surpassed by his son (though,in fact, he continued to paint and teach). That year, when the father took a position at the School of Fine Arts in Barclona, he persuaded the academy to allow his son to take an entrance exam for the advanced class, a process that often took students a month to complete, but Picasso completed it in one week. At 16, he was sent to Spain's most prominent art school, the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, but he stopped attending classes soon after enrollment. Soon afterwards he abandoned his naturalistic style and began experimenting with various theories, techniques, and ideas. Exceptionally prolific throughout the course of his long life, Picasso achieved universal renown and an immense fortune for his revolutionary artistic accomplishments, and became one of the best-known figures in 20th-century art long before his death at 91.
